Horticulture Training

I completed a five-year practicum in horticulture and public garden management at Cornell Plantations, the botanical gardens of Cornell University.

As Director of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), I took responsibility for the environmentally-sustainable control of insects and disease in 15 acres of botanical gardens, the university arboretum, and natural areas.

During five years as a senior horticulturist I managed plant collections in teaching gardens on the Cornell campus and a public orchid display. I was responsible for curation, accessions management, teaching, and interpretation.

I received technical training in greenhouse and nursery management, grafting, propagation, pesticide safety and plant nutrition.
