NanoWorld - Nanotechnology for children and families
From 2000 to 2008 I lead the evaluation of two projects sponsored by Cornell University to design hands-on museum exhibitions introducing nanotechnology to children and their families.
It’s a Nano World gave elementary children a fun introduction to the subvisible world of atoms, molecules and cells. Too Small too See engaged children ages 8 to 13 in learning about how scientists build nanotechnology products.
Both opened at Disney's Epcot®. Nearly one million visitors toured each exhibition.
Evaluation included:
Front-end research - two national studies to help scientists understand what children know and can learn about the sub-visible world.
Formative evaluation tested prototype exhibits, signs, and video with museum visitors.
Summative evaluation studied how visitors use the exhibitions. Download summative report. (PDF 6 MB)
